I wrote the title of this blog post about 4 days ago, and I STILL have not finished the post until now!
Much has happened in the past few days.
First! I got my E-Ticket! I depart Anchorage at 1:45am on the 9th to Phoenix where I land at 8:13am (7:13am AK) I then catch a flight to Philadelphia with another girl headed to Germany at about 8:55am (7:55am AK). We land in Phili at about 4:47pm (12:47pm AK).
I THEN get to the gate for my flight to Frankfurt, where I will meet up with about 20 other exchange students going to Northern Germany (I am sitting next to Jordan Kromer on the flihgt :D) We pick up from Philadelphia at about 8:30pm (4:30pm AK) for our 8 hour flight to FRANKFURT, GERMANY.
After an eventful flight with other exchange students, we land in Frankfurt at about 10:20am (12:20am AK). I part ways with the other Rotary students after customs. Most of them are headed to Hannover or other cities, my final destination is Hamburg. I have about 2 hours to wander around, I might see Alvaro, who will also be landing in Hamburg, but his flight is a little bit after mine.
At about 12:10pm (2:10am AK) I board my final hour-long flight to Hamburg. I land at about 1:10pm (3:10am AK) where my host family and others will be waiting for me.
I AM PUMPED!
In other news.
I saw my bestie Miriam for the last time today. We went to Starbucks with Victoria, Subway for lunch, Freddys, McDonalds to find some lightsaber HappyMeal toys, and spent half an hour in the post office... what our hangouts are usually like. There weren't any tears, because, quite frankly, we were getting tired of each other anyway ;-). I have yet to say goodbye to a few more friends... some it will be quite hard because some I wont see for quite a while after exchange.
German Final on Friday... wish me luck.
My parents and I are slowly knocking off the last steps for me to legally get into Deutschland. We got my paper work copied, passport copied (or 'Reisepass' in German), tickets printed, itineraries confirmed, and hosts emailed. We are also picking up some travel necessities tomorrow.
I cannot wait to meet my first family! They seem super nice, and WAY cool. They also have a pond.... what more could you ask for?
I promise to update my blog within my first week, with photos of my flights and my first days in Germany.
Until then... I am going to enjoy the last few days in Alaska!
Auf Wiedersehen!!!
