The Packing Diaries

The scientific theory I like best is that the rings of Saturn are composed entirely of lost airline luggage.

Packing.

I thought it would be simple.  Countless times in the last couple years I have packed up my bags to head to some location in the US.  I knew just what to pack to survive off one carryon luggage bag for two weeks, stay under the weight limit, prevent checking baggage, and keeping things from being confiscated by TSA.

Then someone told me that I had to pack a years necessities into a suitcase.  Oh Boy.

I plan on checking one suitcase with a couple changes of clothing, toiletries, food, and some various other Alaskan items I plan to give away.  I pack an item in the bag knowing that there is no chance it will be coming back with me to the US-- so I only pack what I am willing to give up after my year.

I am someone who is able to live without makeup, a flat iron, or fifty pairs of shoes, so packing light usually easy for me.  But I am afraid of leaving behind the things I WILL need, that I might not be able to get in my host country.

Here is my luggage at the moment:
Carry On, lots of Gifts.

NO, my bags are not packed yet.  I just put all the stuff in to see how it would fit.

I'll post later when I can think better.

Just things I am worrying about already... AND I STILL HAVE 23 DAYS LEFT!

Who else is having packing problems?

  3. I see you're bringing handbags of some sort?
If you need space, they are pretty easy things to buy any where you go in the world.
