Hello All!
I would like to first point out that I haven't slept more than 4-5 hours at a time for about three weeks now, so this post may or may not sound coherent. I promised myself I would finish this blog post before a much needed 14 hour hibernation sleep, so here it is, errors and all.
I can't believe June is almost over! With that being said, a lot has happened in the last few (four) months.
At the end of February, I flew to the State Capitol to do a government program. Juneau is a beautiful city. We were able to tour the capitol building, the city, and go skiing.
I finished out the school year with a 4.0. Never again will I take 8.5 classes at a time again.
First week of June I went to a youth conference in Anchorage. It was a ton of fun, and I reconnected with some old friends. We went hiking, volunteering, and had a general good old time.
I geeked out at the Star Trek Premiere! Best movie I've seen in awhile!
I also had a s'mores party in the backwoods with my favorite ladies when a moose decided to pay a visit.
After that I went to Girls State in Wasilla, which is a week long program to raise awareness to the individual citizen. Basically, about 40 girls sat down together in legislative sessions, ran for office, and campaigned against each other. I ran for governor, but I lost the race in the general election. I had little time to be sad however, as I was selected as one of the two senators that will go to Washington D.C. on a scholarship in July for Girls Nation along with a 2,000 dollar academic scholarship. We will tour the White House, Various Places in D.C, Virginia, New Jersey, and Maryland, and possibly meet the President himself (for real). I'm really excited, and am currently working on my bill to bring to the legislative session with the other Girls nation senator from Alaska.
After that, I hopped on a plane to Colorado to check out the one and only Air Force Academy! Any doubts I may have had before visiting have now been wiped away, and I am more eager than ever to apply for the class of 2018!

A little after that, Mirja paid a visit.

I truly think I belong here.
I have to finish APLit summer work, Congressional Nomination Packets, and my Girls Nation Bill before going off to Encampment with Civil Air Patrol on Thursday. I leave for D.C. a bit after that. After I get back from D.C., XC Running Season begins the next day. Where did summer go?!?
So far, it's been totally worth it though.
Hopefully I'll write again before school starts August 21st! Now off to get some much needed rest. :)
See ya later.
Sarah
