Orientation Dejavu

The Blazers!
“Our battered suitcases were piled on the sidewalk again; we had longer ways to go. But no matter, the road is life.” – Jack Kerouac
Just got back from the last Outbound Orientation Distrikt 5010 is having before everyone starts departing for their host countries, this was the first time ever that they were doing a SECOND orientation, hence the dejavu.

It was the most bittersweet feeling seeing all the other Outbounds from Outlying Alaska and Yukon Territory, Canada, but realizing that I wont see about half of them again until the next Orientation in September.... 2012.  Many hugs were given in the end and we all departed on good terms, but before that, we had a pretty awesome weekend.  Let me tell you about it.
She is a moose!
All 22 of us had come to the UAA Campus for the Spring Orientation that would be happening the next three days.  We had high anticipation for the events in the coming days- We would be getting our blazers, doing parody skits on the 5 D's, getting to know fellow Outbounds more, and be briefed more about our countries customs.

Right after we had our breakfast (Did I mention we arrived at 8am?) We went to go get our blazers.

Correction.

Our Blazers
We WALKED to go get our blazers.  About a mile to the Cuddy Hall.  (Throughout the weekend, we walked back and forth between the hall about 9 times, so we we walked about 18 miles!)  Names were announced one-by-one.  I got my Blazer-- it was too small.

Presentations
Later, we listened to the presentations that all the Outbounds had prepared to give in their host countries.  Each took about 20 minutes to complete.

Later, we went to our Dorms to get ready for bed.  Many unspeakable things happened on the 3rd floor. ;)  We all piled into one room at the end of the hallway to chat.  We gossiped about host families, countries, exchange, and our presentations.

Creativity in a nutshell
The next day, we headed back over to the Cuddy Hall to listen to more presentations and do country break-out sessions.  Time passed quickly as usual, and we all went back to watch a movie until 1 am and celebrate Nicole and Kaylin's 16th Birthdays (With our awesome coordinators who brought us FOOD).  Nicole came to room with me afterwards.

The last day, we all went back to Cuddy Hall to do our skits.  They were a multitude of fun, and I have even included a video of a song Parody of Tom (one of the District chairs) and the 5 D's.

A Love Letter We found on the street
It was probably one of the best weekend ever, and I thank everyone who went into planning it!

In other news:

I just found out that a girl named Cibelle from Brazil and another girl from Argentina will be living in my city in Germany!  Very Excited to meet them!

Thank YOU!
Sarah

Oh, Comment, I love hearing from you!
Lyrics:

What does Tom dream of
when he's takin' a little Tommy snooze
Does he dream of doing service
Or yelling at kids about booze
Don't you worry your pretty greyin' head
We drove a car through a wall
But at least we're not dead
But when we get home
We're gonna give you lots of hugs,
Because we're really really sorry that we did all those drugs!
Tom Tooom Tommy Tom Tom
Because we broke all the D's and did the dumb stuff
now we're all outta luck
